Driver arrested, passenger injured in Mt Baker Highway crash

DEMING, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 7:55pm on Thursday, December 14th, due to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of the intersection of Mount Baker Highway (SR542) and Marshall Hill Road.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) said their initial investigation discovered a 2019 Toyota Rav4 was eastbound on the highway when it left the road and struck a tree.

The 74-year-old woman passenger was injured and transported from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

The driver was not injured. Both occupants had been wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Drugs or alcohol were determined to have been involved.

The WSP arrested and booked the driver, identified as 45-year-old Tatiana Anatolyevna Dillard of Maple Falls, into the Whatcom County Jail charged with suspicion of vehicular assault.
