CUSTER, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 1:50pm, Wednesday, May 24th, due to a report of a structure fire in the 3000 block of Creasey Road, just east of I-5 and south of Birch Bay-Lynden Road.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue (NWFR) Division Chief Shaun Ward told Whatcom News that NWFR along with Lynden Fire, Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) and Bellingham Fire Department personnel arrived to find a 2-story shop structure fully involved. Inside the building were multiple pressurized tanks of propane off-gassing.
Tenders from NWFR and WCFD7 provided water to firefighters as they extinguished the fire.
Ward said there were no injuries to persons or pets and the homeowner was able to remove 2 vehicles before they could be damaged. The nearby residence was not damaged.
Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
