City Budget Awaits Your Review

The City of Ferndale and the Ferndale City Council have developed a preliminary budget for 2016. As required by the State, public input is sought during 3 public hearings.

The budget is available to download from the city website (in MS Excel XLSX format). The spreadsheet is composed of several tabs, each providing a details in various segments of the budget.

The three State-required public hearings are scheduled during the following Ferndale City Council meetings:

    • November 2nd (already held)
    • November 16th (already held)
    • December 7th

If unable to attend or speak during the remaining public hearing, Ferndale citizens are encouraged to call or email their comments to any or all City Councilmembers.

According to city staff comments during the November 16th City Council meeting, this draft budget isn’t balanced and will require additional revenue sources if finalized as-is.

    • Add 1 full-time support staff for water/sewer/storm – $80,000
    • Add 1 full-time police office support staff – $66,000
    • Add 1 full-time utility worker (water/sewer/storm/street) – $92,000

 

Equipment Purchases

    • 3 replacement police vehicles and a SCOPE vehicle (replacements) – $135,000
    • 1 Bobcat Loader (not a replacement) – $45,000
    • 2 Dump Trucks (replacements) – $225,000
    • 1 Backhoe (replacement) – $140,000
    • 2 Work Trucks (replacements) – $50,000
