Candidate Filing Week for 2026 Elections Begins Monday

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — ​The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office announced that Candidate Filing Week for the 2026 election cycle begins at 8am on Monday, May 4, 2026. Individuals seeking to run for elective office must submit their Declaration of Candidacy by 5pm on Friday, May 8, 2026. Filing can be completed online, in person, or via email and fax.

​A lot draw to determine the order in which candidates appear on the ballot is scheduled for May 8, 2026, at 5:05pm. Candidates who wish to withdraw their declaration must do so by 5pm on Monday, May 11, 2026. All filing fees must also be paid by the May 8 deadline.
