Boil advisory lifted

City of Ferndale staff say they have received water sample test results after yesterday’s water main break posed the potential for contamination of water lines in some Portal Way neighborhoods south of Enterprise Road and east of I-5. As a result, city officials issued a boil advisory.

“Tests came back satisfactory and the boil advisory is lifted as of now,” said city spokesperson Riley Sweeney in a text message.

City officials said yesterday public works staff had identified a leak during an inspection of the water main that services the north Portal Way area. The leak was determined to be a cracked 12-inch valve. A boil water advisory was issued as a precautionary measure by city officials.
