WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol issued a press release Friday, February 6, 2026, with a message for Seahawk’s fans, “win or lose, we need to drive responsibly during the Super Bowl festivities.”

The last time we won the Super Bowl, our interstates and state highways saw a steep increase in impairment-related collisions (12 versus 6 on same Sunday in 2025.) And the last time we lost a Super Bowl, we saw an increase in overall collisions (137 versus 60 on the same Sunday in 2025) and distracted driving highway contacts (18 versus 0 on the same Sunday in 2025.)
