Meridian Street blocked due to firefighting response

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 4300 block of Meridian Street about 7:15am on Monday, April 27, 2026, due to reports of smoke coming from an abandoned residence.

The firefighting response resulted in closing all lanes of Guide Meridian. Northbound traffic was being diverted at Kellogg Road. Southbound traffic was being diverted at Horton Road.

Fire investigators were on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

UPDATE 8:35am: Southbound lanes were reopened. Northbound lanes remained diverted at Kellogg Road.

Northbound lanes were reopened by 10am.
