Winter weather advisory issued as snow begins falling around Whatcom County

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office forecasters issued a winter weather advisory for Whatcom County lowlands about 8:45pm today, December 17th, that is in effect until 7am tomorrow. The advisory says to expect snow accumulations of up to 1 to 2 inches and wind gusts to 40mph.

There had been reports of snow falling in lowland locations as early as 7:30pm, mostly in the north county regions.

Temperatures around Whatcom County had fallen to the low-30s earlier in the day so low ground temperatures could aid in snow accumulation.
