National Weather Service Seattle office forecasters have issued a Wind Advisory that will be in effect from 10pm tonight, Saturday, January 5th, until 10am tomorrow.

The Wind Advisory applies to areas from Olympia north to the border. For most of the area, the strongest winds will occur in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Sustained south winds of 20 to 35mph with gusts up to 50mph are expected. Forecasters say winds are expected to increase rapidly late this evening or early Sunday morning, easing late Sunday morning.

Forecasters say a frontal system will move up from the south later today spreading rain into western Washington. An associated surface low pressure area will track north off the coast this afternoon and evening. Southerly winds will rapidly increase behind the combination of the front and surface low resulting in a burst of southerly winds, mostly after midnight tonight into Sunday morning.

Thanks, Joe, for reporting inclement weather. It’s always nice to know ahead of time and I don’t always have the time to be proactive in looking it up. But your notification popped up on my phone which made it easy to be “in-the-know”. Thanks again!
