Wind Advisory for Monday – Wind Watch for Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 10am to 10pm tomorrow, Monday, November 16th. They have also issued a wind watch for Tuesday.

According to NWS,

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected.

A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of 45 mph with gusts to 75 mph are possible.

Monday’s wind advisory has been issued for areas on the coast and the north interior regions of Puget Sound. The forecast is for winds from the southeast at 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph.

Tuesday’s wind watch has been issued for all of western Washington. The forecast is for winds from the south at 35 to 45 mph with gusts 65 to 75 mph shifting to the west in the late afternoon.

It was only a few days ago we were dealt winds peaking at 60+ MPH.

NWS warns that winds this strong can snap tree branches and cause local power outages. Winds forecast for Tuesday can also trees will be toppled resulting in widespread power outages and many buildings will see roof damage.
