BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office issued 2 statements yesterday, August 20, 2025, regarding an incident that reportedly occurred that morning between 7am and 9am.
This morning, a sexual assault occurred on the trail system in Little Squalicum Park off Marine Drive. After an extensive search with assistance from local agencies and a WCSO K-9, the suspect was not located. The suspect in this assault was reported to have a beard.
The assault occurred on Wednesday, August 20th, between 7 AM and 9 AM. Detectives are requesting community members and businesses to check their surveillance footage (Ring, Nest, etc.) in the area. If you locate relevant or suspicious footage, please call the WCSO tip line at 360-778-6663.

The investigation into this morning’s sexual assault in Little Squalicum Park off Marine Drive is ongoing. Based on updated witness descriptions, the suspect is described as:
- A white male in his 30s-40s
- Larger and heavier set
- 5’10”-6’1″ tall
- Dark, curly, and frizzy hair in a ponytail
- Bearded
- Wearing brown pants and a tan jacket at the time of the incident
