Since the next mayor of Ferndale, Jon Mutchler, will be vacating his seat on the City Council before the end of his term, applications are being accepted for his replacement. There will be no need to go through the process of getting elected as this will be an appointment and the person selected will be able to serve out the remainder of the term without needing to put out yard signs, make speeches or kiss babies.
Per the City of Ferndale website:
Applications are now being accepted for Council position #5, which will become vacant on January 4, 2016 when Councilmember Jon Mutchler assumes the office of Mayor. The person selected will complete the remainder of the term, which expires December 31, 2017.
Completed application packets for the city council position must be received at City Hall (2095 Main Street or P.O. Box 936, Ferndale, WA 98248) by 5pm on Monday, December 28. Click here to download the application packet.
Sitting councilmembers will discuss the applications received by the deadline during the regular city council meeting on January 4th and appoint the replacement.
