According to the Nooksack River Level history and forecast graph, the river level at Ferndale crested at about 17.5 feet Saturday, November 14th. Several roads were closed as a result of the minor flooding that occurred. In addition, the river breached the river bank at VanderYacht Park spewing river water into the lower areas of the park which formed a large temporary lake in the middle of the park while the existing pond grew a size bigger.
The path around the park was relatively unaffected by the flooding. Having the river at the same level as the walking path and new lake made for a new experience while enjoying a walk around the park.

By Sunday morning, the new lake had all but disappeared.
