The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says a 1-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a car backing out of a driveway in the Tiopi Loop neighborhood.
According to a WSP press memo, yesterday around 8pm a 63-year-old woman was backing a 2002 Mercedes Benz ML320 out of a driveway and failed to see the child playing in the driveway.
Inattention was listed as the cause and charges were pending.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are considered to have been involved.
