This Winter’s First Official Snow Forecast for Ferndale

cold ice weather winterThe National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement today, November 22nd, that included a forecast of snow in the lowlands.

According to the NWS alert,

Snow showers are possible in the lowlands Tuesday and it will become windy and cold around Bellingham and in the San Juans.

A cold front is expected to begin arriving Monday afternoon and evening. This will cause the snow level to drop to around 500 feet late Monday night and Tuesday morning. Soon after, even colder air is expected to flow southward from British Columbia dropping the snow level to sea level in Ferndale.

There is a 70% chance of precipitation for Monday night and 50% Tuesday dropping to 20% Tuesday night. These are the key times for potential snowfall.

The weather forecast also says to expect winds Tuesday into Wednesday.

Clear skies are forecast after Tuesday and with them below freezing night-time low temperatures.
