Friday, the call was put out that more volunteers were needed than were showing up to help build a playground south of Pioneer Park and with that there was concern of completing the project in time for the 5pm ribbon cutting.
This morning city staff told Discover Ferndale they were deciding whether to cancel the opening ceremony. But after assessing the volunteer turnout this morning, City staff announced at 10am that the 5pm Star Park ribbon cutting will happen today but it has been rescheduled to 7pm.
Volunteers are still welcome to join in the building of the playground up until 7pm. Volunteers are asked to park in the lots on the west side of Pioneer Park by the sportsplex and head to the red tent across the field by the playground to check in.
