Star Park opened to the public this summer after a herculean volunteer effort. But there are some finishing touches and follow up steps that need to be done and the park needs to be closed to accomplish those things.
According to the city, the park will be closed between September 6th and 12th 13th.
Tasks to be accomplished include
- Adding a sidewalk to the north and west sides of the parking lot
- Making some improvements for added safety
- Touching up the paint
- Adding another layer of wood chips
And, maybe most important, there is at least one new addition to the playground.

Located in the young kids section are two new features in one. It combines a giant thumb piano with 6 keys flanked by two sets of bold sounding tongue drums. Mallets for the drums are attached. One person can pluck out a tune on the piano while two others can accompany on the drums.
UPDATE 9/12/16
COF advises they will need one additional day to finish the work. As such, the park is not expected to reopen until Wednesday, September 14th.
