BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Officials with Sanitary Service Company (SSC) said today, December 30th, they will not be collecting garbage or recycling tomorrow in unincorporated areas of Whatcom County.
According to SSC General Manager Ted Carlson in an email to Whatcom News, “Due to unsafe road conditions as a result of snow and ice, SSC will not be collecting residential garbage, recycling, or FoodPlus! in the unincorporated areas of the County on Friday, December 31.”
Effected areas include Sudden Valley, Geneva and the Chuckanut Drive.
Residential garbage, recycling and FoodPlus! service in the City of Bellingham and the City of Ferndale will continue tomorrow as weather and street conditions permit. “We will also be providing commercial garbage and recycling collection throughout the entire service area as road conditions allow,” Carlson said. “As always, for those that do not get picked up, we will pick up garbage the following week and recycling on their next scheduled pick-up day.”
Excellent! We were just putting out our bins when I saw your article. An earlier SV email blast said SSC would “try” to make it tomorrow, so service would be hit or miss. Very glad for your update; saved us from a Sisyphus-like task.
