BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 5:30am on Sunday, October 2nd, to the southbound lanes of I-5 north of the W Bakerview Road interchange due to reports of rollover crash.

The crash resulted in blocking both lanes. As of 5:50am, law enforcement reported being able to open 1 lane through the crash scene.
According to the EMS dispatch log service, PulsePoint, at least 1 person was transported by ambulance from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

Both lanes were reopened to traffic by 6:45am.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Jacob Kennett later told Whatcom News that 3 vehicles were involved, 2 cars and a box truck. All had been driving southbound when 1 of the cars, a Subaru, made a lane change that resulted in colliding with the other car then the box truck.
The Subaru ended up on its roof blocking both southbound lanes. The other car ended up in the median and was able to drive to the northbound lanes and safely park on the shoulder. The box truck was able to pull to the southbound shoulder.
The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance from the scene. Kennett expected the Subaru driver would likely be cited for an unsafe lane change.
