Snow for Christmas? It is in the Forecast.

snow in forecast for christmasChristmas Eve and Christmas Day currently hold the possibility of snow for the Ferndale area according to today’s Ferndale weather forecast.

Long-term forecast models call for the jet stream to remain aimed at the Pacific Northwest until it dips slightly mid-week. This will allow for colder unstable air to move in bringing with it the possibility of snow in the lowlands.

In the meantime, the Cascades continue to receive healthy doses of the white stuff. Mount Baker ski resort is reporting accumulations over 100 inches in places so far. This, in stark contrast to last year’s meager snowfall, is good news not only for the skiers but also for communities who depend on the snowpack as a water source.
