BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a taxiway at Bellingham International Airport about 11:10am today, Thursday, February 23rd, due to a report of a small plane having been blown off the taxiway. There were concerns about the possibility of leaking fuel.
Initial unconfirmed reports by radio were that the single occupant was able to get out of the plane without assistance.
Airport Rescue and Firefighting crews responded and determined the occupant was uninjured and assisted in righting the plane that was resting upright on its nose and a wing.
Northeasterly wind gusts of around 40mph were reported by the airport weather station at the time.
