FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works reopened Slater Road today, February 2nd, after noon today, less than 24-hours after closing it yesterday.

The closure was due to surface water flooding following heavy local rains. Water pooling on nearby saturated pasture lands forced the closure.

Traffic had been detoured down Main Street during the closure.

There is still standing water on the roadway and drivers are advised to use caution. A 5mph speed limit is in place through impacted section of road.
