A driver stopped to allow pedestrians to cross in a crosswalk but unfortunately the driver coming up from behind was unaware.

According to Ferndale Police officer Steve Gamage, the first crash happened at Main Street and Hendrickson Avenue when traffic moving west on Main Street stopped to allow pedestrians to cross in the crosswalk. That vehicle was then struck from behind. There was severe damage to both vehicles and both drivers were checked out and treated at the scene.

Both vehicles required being towed from the scene.

A similar crash happened by Main Street and Douglas Road in the traffic backup in the westbound lane of Main Street that resulted from the first crash. In that crash, 3 vehicles were involved as drivers failed to stop for stopped traffic. There were no injuries in that crash.
