Search and rescue operation bolstered for missing Canadian hiker near Twin Sisters

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — An extensive multi-agency search and rescue operation is currently underway in Whatcom County for a 34-year-old Canadian hiker who has been missing since late June.

Gursimran Singh, who also goes by Gursimran Randhawa, of Kamloops, British Columbia, failed to return home from a hiking trip near the Twin Sisters mountain range. According to officials, Singh entered the United States on June 21, 2026, and was expected back by his family on June 28, 2026.

The investigation intensified on June 30 when authorities located Singh’s truck parked 6 miles up Middle Fork Road according to a press release from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office on July 2, 2026.

Whatcom County Search and Rescue (SAR) units immediately initiated a response on June 30, deploying both ground teams and aerial assets, including drones and helicopters, to scour the rugged terrain.
