Bellingham I-5 southbound lanes closed for over 2 hours after morning crash

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the southbound lanes of I-5 south of the Sunset Drive interchange about 4:15am due to report of a rollover crash.

Initial reports via first responder radios from the scene were that a Kia Sedona minivan towing a U-Haul trailer was on its side and all occupants, 2 adults and a child, were out of the vehicle. All suffered lacerations and 1 adult was transported by medic unit to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

It was reported by a Washington State Patrol trooper at the scene that the Kia had struck and damaged a cement barrier.

The lanes were reopened shortly after 6:30am.
