About 2:10pm, fire and aid units were dispatched to a report of a rollover single vehicle crash on Slater Road.

The Ford Aerostar van ended up on its roof in the ditch. Even so, the two people inside were able to extricate themselves by the time first responders arrived.

The vehicle appeared to have been traveling eastbound toward Elder Road  when the front end struck the ditch bank, causing the vehicle to roll onto its top.

The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage. According to Whatcom Fire District #17 Fire Chief Jim Petrie, the driver and passenger were being treated for minor injuries.

Slater Road was closed between Lake Terrell Road and Elder Road while emergency crews took care of the injured and the crash site.

Lummi Police on the scene were only beginning their investigation but said based on initial review it appeared the vehicle simply drifted off the road.
