Several fire units were initially dispatched to the Boys & Girls Club Ferndale Clubhouse on Cherry Street by Pioneer Park this afternoon, November 3rd. After initial responders arrived it was determined only one fire engine should continue while the others were given a “code green” to return to their stations.
The building had been evacuated and fire alarm sounded after staff noticed an indication of smoke inside.
According to Branch Director Anya Milton while standing outside waiting for the okay to return inside, “We prefer to err on the side of caution because our kids’ safety is a responsibility we take very seriously.”
After fire fighters walked through the building it was determined there was no fire and people were allowed back into the building.
