Kevin Renz was introduced to the City Council during their regular meeting last night. It was Renz’s first official day on the job as Ferndale Public Works Director.

The position had been vacant when the City terminated then Public Workss Director Chad Bedlington after he had been arrested for DUI in Bellingham in February 2015. Ferndale City Administrator Greg Young had been doing double-duty by filling in as the acting Public Works Director in the interim.

According to an announcement on the City website,

Renz joins us from Skagit County where he has worked for the last nineteen years, most recently serving as the Solid Waste Division Manager.

He will oversee a department of twenty-eight employees that maintains and improves our public infrastructure, including our roads, parks, water system and public buildings.
