City staff report there have been close calls as a result of drivers ignoring the road closed signs around the Malloy Avenue Sewer Project north of Thornton Street and south of Oxford Court. Apparently the problem is with those who have disregarded the road closure after-hours and during the weekends.
According to the city,
Only those who live in the closure area should be driving in the construction zone. This is for driver’s own safety and the safety of the residents as there are road hazards and reduced visibility as a result of the construction.
Ferndale Police will be increasing their presence around the work area to help prevent close calls from becoming incidents.
