A logger near Gold Bar, about 100 miles south of Ferndale, stumbled upon a human skull while marking trees on private timber land November 25th. The Snohomish Sheriff’s Office was notified and the skull sent to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. According to the Sheriff’s Office, no other remains were found at the site.

Friday, December 4th, the Medical Examiner announced they had identified the deceased as Sandy L. Rideout, formerly from Ferndale, according to an article by The Monroe Monitor.

According to Rideout’s profile from the Washington State Patrol’s Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit, she had been considered missing since April of 2006 and was last seen in Bellingham.

The cause of her death remains under investigation.
