A Ferndale parent said she discovered 2 razor blades loose alongside the candy her 4-year-old collected on Halloween.
According to the parent, they were in their car after trick-or-treating in the Pacific Highlands neighborhood when the bare blades were found among the candy in the child’s bucket. “I found them checking my kids’ candy which all moms should be aware to do,” the parent told Discover Ferndale.
No one was reported to have been injured and Ferndale Police were notified.
Ferndale Police Lieutenant Bill Hatchett said Tuesday morning they had received no other similar reports. “It is not known if we will be able to identify who put the blades in the candy basket,” Hatchett said in an email.
Hatchett advised, “Parents should always accompany their young children while out trick-or-treating and check the contents of their child’s trick-or-treat haul.”
