Traffic heading northbound across the border into Canada is being routed off I-5 to the Pacific Highway border crossing (aka the truck crossing).
The Peach Arch crossing was closed this afternoon, September 24th about 2pm as a result of a broken gas line inside a building on the Canadian side.
According to the Washington Department of Transportation,
On I-5 northbound from SR 543 (MP 274) to International Boundary (MP 276) there is an incident blocking all lanes. Drivers headed to Canada are advised to use SR 543 and other border crossings.
It was unknown how long the Peace Arch crossing will remain closed. It was announced by police radio the Peace Arch crossing will reopen at or shortly after 4pm today.
