BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The public is invited to celebrate Opening Day on Saturday, May 7th.

Public festivities include a decorated Looney Tunes-themed boat parade accompanied by a Bellingham Fire Department boat, a traditional flag raising and blessing of the fleet as well as events organized by the Bellingham Yacht Club (BYC) and coordinated with waterfront agencies and other organizations.

Opening Day public ceremonies start at 10:45am at BYC, 2625 S Harbor Loop Drive, and a cannon will be fired at 1pm to signal the start of the boat parade from the Bellingham Ferry Terminal proceeding across the bay.

A 45-foot US Coast Guard boat will be available for tours from 11am to 12:30pm, at which time it will leave to join the boat parade.
