Nooksack River forecast to rise again this weekend

The Nooksack River is receding this morning after cresting last night at 16.8-feet according to the US Geological Survey, shy of the previously forecast level of over 18-feet. The river level as of 6am was recorded at about 14-feet.

The following roads remain closed due to water over the roadways as of 6am this morning.

  • Barrett/Paradise Roads
  • Marine Drive between Lummi Shore Drive/Road and Rural Avenue
  • Ferndale Road between Marine Drive and Slater Road

Forecasters are expecting the river level to begin rising again tomorrow. The 6am river level forecast says to expect the river to crest at 17.8-feet Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch this morning that will be in effect Sunday morning through late Sunday evening citing another round of heavy rain in the Cascades overnight is expected to drive rivers higher with some, including the Nooksack River, cresting near flood stage.
