
The current Nooksack River level forecast for Ferndale (at Main Street) predicts levels where minor flooding can be expected over the next few days. A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service until Sunday.
Rains locally and in the mountains are expected to increase river levels in several western Washington counties including Whatcom. A Flood Watch has been issued as a result until 10am Sunday, November 15th.
According to the NWS Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale, the river will reach 17 feet Friday afternoon. At that level, flooding into low-lying land adjacent to the river is expected. The river is expected to peak at just over 19 feet Saturday afternoon and not return to below 17 feet until Sunday. At 19 feet, flooding from Ferndale down to the mouth of the river is expected.
Drivers should expect water and debris over low-lying roadways near rivers and streams. Be especially alert on roads typically affected during flooding events such as (see map below)
- Paradise and Barrett Roads
- Slater Road near the river
- West Smith and Hovander Roads
- Marine Drive

Drivers should be aware conditions may change rapidly and are advised to obey road closed signs and not drive on roads covered with water.
