Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) report compact snow and ice on the roads.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Jacob Kennett advised motorists to slow down and increase following distance if driving is unavoidable.
Law enforcement agencies have been responding to multiple reports of single-vehicle crashes where the vehicle has slid off the road.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office said at 6am to expect the snowfall to continue across much of western Washington for another 3 to 4 hours.
