FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-5 north of Slater Road about 8:40pm tonight, April 17th, due to a report of a collision between a car and a motorcycle.
Initial reports from the scene were that it was a non-injury crash.
Northbound traffic was detoured around the crash site via the Slater Road off- and on-ramps until the crashed vehicles could be moved off the roadway.
About 9:10pm and moments after it was reported the crash scene had been cleared and this story was just being published, a second crash was reported in the same area, north of the Slater Road overpass in the northbound lanes. Aid crews were dispatched to the scene.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant confirmed there were only minor injuries sustained in the first collision. A 2016 Volkswagen Jetta collided with a 2001 Honda CBR900 in that incident.
The second incident involved a single vehicle, a 1984 Datsun, and also resulted in minor injuries according to Oliphant.
Oliphant said no criminal citations or charges resulted from either incident.
