Morning fire destroys residence on South Pass Road

MAPLE FALLS, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 7200 block of South Pass Road today, August 16th, about 5:40am.

Whatcom County Fire District 14 Fire Chief Jerry DeBruin told Whatcom News an aid unit transported the sole occupant to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire was confined to the residence, described by DeBruin as being of a circular design. It was considered a total loss. Firefighters were able to protect a nearby structure.

Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and the Red Cross has been notified to assist the displaced resident.
