
First responders were called to a two car collision at Ferndale Road and Slater Road today about 12:40pm. When they arrived they found both vehicles in the field on the southeast corner of the intersection.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Jacqueline D Jefferson, age 61, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer south on Ferndale Road when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Slater Road. Hannah H Fisk, age 30, was driving her 2006 Volvo XC920 eastbound on Slater Road and struck Jefferson’s Blazer on the right side passenger door.
Margaret Ann Greene, age 93, was a passenger in Jefferson’s car and was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center from the accident scene along with Jefferson and Fisk who were also injured. Green died later at the hospital.
WSP reports charges are pending and the cause remains under investigation. All involved were wearing their seatbelts and were from the Ferndale and Bellingham area. Both vehicles were total losses.
