Ferndale police and fire to conduct trainings at school

FERNDALE, Wash. — The Ferndale Police Department and Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) will conduct active shooter and mass casualty response training at Horizon Middle School, according to a Ferndale Police Department training advisory.

According to the advisory, the training sessions will occur on Thursday evenings throughout June 2026. The sessions are scheduled for the early evening hours and will conclude by about 8:00pm.

The training involves only Ferndale Police Department personnel and WCFD7 medics, the advisory states. Officers will use blank ammunition inside the school building. The advisory notes that an increase in emergency vehicle activity may be visible in the area during training times.
