Large grass fire in Blaine requires assistance from Ferndale and others

A sudden flurry of sirens in Ferndale you may have heard this afternoon were the result of a request for assistance in fighting a grass fire in Blaine.

Shortly after 3pm units began responding to a grass fire in the area of Bayvue and Selder Roads between Semiahmoo and Birch Bay. According to radio transmissions, the initial units immediately requested assistance from surrounding agencies upon arriving at the more than one acre fire. It also took some time before a good route to the fire could be established.
