Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) firefighters responded to a fire in an apartment in the 2000 block of Shuksan Street about 2:45pm today.
First responders found a cooking fire that had spread to the cabinets in the kitchen according to WCFD7 Fire Chief Larry Hoffman.
The 3 occupants were all outside when firefighters arrived. One person received aid for possible smoke inhalation at the scene.
The fire was put out quickly but resulted in an estimated $25,000 in damage according to Hoffman.
Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family.
