Expected heavy rains and a rising snow level in the northern Cascades late Sunday and into Monday, maybe Tuesday, will result in increased river levels in Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish counties in the upcoming days.
The current forecast model shows minor flooding of the Nooksack River around Ferndale while the river level should remain below the official flood level of 19 feet. The river is expected to crest near 18.25 feet about 3am Tuesday. But, should the weather system stall over the Cascades, more severe flooding could be expected.
