Icy conditions make walking and driving a challenge

Early morning light precipitation fell for about 3 hours after 3am today, January 5th. Combined with near freezing temperatures, it has made for slick roads and sidewalks in the Ferndale area, especially in the higher elevations (eg Church Road).

Unlike yesterday’s snow, this morning’s icy roads give no warning until drivers need to turn or hit the brakes. Several incidents of fender-benders and vehicles off the road have been reported.
