UPDATED: Hit and run crash with serious injuries on Samish Way

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 900 block of Samish Way about 12:30pm today, Friday, February 11th, due to a report of a serious injury crash involving a person who was on a riding mower.

Initial reports from the scene were that Bellingham Police had closed the roadway to all traffic through that section of Samish Way.

About 1:30pm, officials with the Bellingham Police Department (BPD) said the road closure could be expected to continue for another hour. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

It was announced the road had been reopened about 2:30pm.

BPD officials said at 6:30pm, “Officers [are] looking to identify [the] driver of a white sedan who hit a man on a John Deere lawn mower.”

The victim was reported as critically injured.
