Update 2pm: Snow continues to come and go. Surface temperatures continue to hover just over freezing.
Update 1pm: Precipitation has changed from snow back to rain in many areas and surface temperatures stopped dropping at near 33.5°.
Original Story: The Ferndale weather forecast called for about a half-inch of rain today, Sunday, December 27th. Beginning after 9am, the rains arrived and began to fall in earnest. At the same time, the temperature started falling too.
About 12:30pm, the temperature had fallen enough the rain became big flakes of snow falling in many areas around Ferndale. No accumulations to be hoped for without a big drop in temperature given the soggy result of a few hours of rain preceding the snow.
The weather station by the high school reported 36° at 9am and 34° at 12:30pm.
