Heads up! That ballot is going to require extra postage

If you choose to mail in your ballot instead of dropping it off at the City Hall official ballot drop box (in the parking lot), be aware it is going to require more than one stamp.

The return envelopes provided with Whatcom County ballets state on the top-right corner it will require $0.68 postage. This is due to the large number of initiatives on the ballot, making it heavier than usual.

The price of a standard first-class US postage stamp is currently $0.47 which is enough for letters that weight up to 1 ounce.

Ferndale area voters have another option to mailing their ballots and that is to drop them in the official ballot drop box in the City Hall parking lot (2095 Main Street) for free.

Ballots were sent out last week and are to be left in an official drop box by 8pm or postmarked by Election Day, November 8th. Whatcom County Auditor Debbie Adelstein recommends mailing ballots no later than the Friday before to ensure being postmarked in time.
