Freezing Temperatures

Low temperatures forecast tonight and tomorrow night are expected reach and get below 32° F (freezing). Then beginning Tuesday, they are expected to get at or below 30° F for several days.

This means now is the time, if you haven’t already, to take action to minimize the risk of freezing pipes.

    • drain any exterior hoses (e.g. garden and A/C)
    • disconnect garden hoses from exterior faucets
    • cover exterior faucets with insulated covers
    • close crawlspace vents

If you leave your apartment or house for the holidays, experts advise to not turn your heat off entirely. They recommend dropping it no less than 55° F so pipes in outside walls will be less likely to freeze in the event of a surprise winter storm or severe drop in outside temperature.
