Flooding not in the Nooksack River forecast in Ferndale

While the National Weather Service’s Seattle office maintains a watchful eye and has an Areal Flood Watch in place for northwest Washington and west central Washington, the forecast specific for the Nooksack River level at Ferndale remains with normal bounds.

The river is expected to crest Sunday, October 22nd, about 3pm around the 14-foot mark, low enough not to expect to impact roads or property.

The river recently rose nearly 10 feet over a mere 6 hours and crested at 15.34 feet yesterday, Thursday, October 19th, as a result of recent heavy rains in the mountains.

More rain is expected in the mountains and the NWS advises monitoring later river level forecasts and to be alert for possible flood warnings.
