Flames visible outside Ferndale granary structure

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the site of the Ferndale Granary about 2:40pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, due to reports of a fire at the site.

The granary on the corner of Washington Street and Third Avenue in Ferndale is currently in the process of being demolished by the current operator, Cargill, a Minneapolis-based multinational food corporation.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 reported by radio from the scene about 3pm that the fire had been knocked down.
